Spiritual Gifts Definitions

The spiritual gifts that are used in this Software are defined as:

7 Gifts, 9 Gifts, 16 Gifts,20 Gifts, 23 Gifts ADMINISTRATION:  1 Cor. 12:28 – The ability to steer the body toward the accomplishment of God-given goals and directives by planning, organizing, and supervising others.
7 Gifts, 9 Gifts, 16 Gifts,20 Gifts, 23 Gifts Compassion – Empathy - Mercy: Rom. 12:8 – The ability to be extraordinarily sensitive toward those who are suffering, whether physically, mentally, or emotionally and to engage in genuine acts of sympathy, speaking words of compassion and perform overt acts of love to help alleviate their distress.
7 Gifts, 9 Gifts, 16 Gifts,20 Gifts, 23 Gifts ENCOURAGEMENT or EXHORTATION: Rom. 12:8 - The special ability to counsel and challenge others toward a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and to motivate Christians and the Church to make God-honoring choices.
7 Gifts, 9 Gifts, 16 Gifts,20 Gifts, 23 Gifts GIVING: Rom. 12:8 – The ability to share what material resources you have liberally and cheerfully without thought of return.
7 Gifts, 9 Gifts, 16 Gifts,20 Gifts, 23 Gifts PASTOR-SHEPHARD: Eph. 4:11 – The ability to provide spiritual care and protection while guiding and feeding a group of believers that have been entrusted to one’s care.
7 Gifts, 9 Gifts, 16 Gifts,20 Gifts, 23 Gifts SERVICE OR HELPS: Rom. 12:7 - To identify the needs of others and tasks in God's kingdom, however menial, and  complete these tasks and meet these needs without seeking recognition or compliment.  1 Cor. 12:28 – The ability to render support or assistance to others Christians to encourage or support them in ministry both financially and spiritually.
7 Gifts, 9 Gifts, 16 Gifts,20 Gifts, 23 Gifts TEACHING: Rom. 12:7; 1 Cor. 12:28; Eph. 4:11 – The ability to instruct others in the Scripture in a way that communicates spiritual truth that can be easily understood and leads to spiritual growth.
9 Gifts, 16 Gifts,20 Gifts, 23 Gifts EVANGELISM: Eph. 4:11 – The ability to be a bold witness and an effective messenger of the good news of the Gospel sharing salvation and leading other to make a profession of Faith.
9 Gifts, 16 Gifts,20 Gifts, 23 Gifts PROPHECY/PERCEIVING:  Rom. 12:6; 1 Cor. 12:10; Eph. 4:11 – The ability to hear the message of God and to boldly speak that message to His people in a clear and effective way.
16 Gifts,20 Gifts, 23 Gifts APOSTLESHIP: Eph. 4:11; 1 Cor. 12:28 – The unique calling that leads to being sent forth to new frontiers with the gospel, providing leadership over church bodies and maintaining authority over spiritual matters pertaining to the church.
16 Gifts,20 Gifts, 23 Gifts DISCERNMENT: 1 Cor. 12:10 – The ability to clearly distinguish truth from error by judging whether the behavior or teaching is from God and consistent with His printed and inspired Word.
16 Gifts,20 Gifts, 23 Gifts FAITH: 1 Cor. 12:8-10 – The ability to be firmly persuaded of God's power and promises to accomplish His will and design and to exhibit such a confidence in Him and His Word that circumstances and obstacles do not shake that conviction.
16 Gifts,20 Gifts, 23 Gifts HOSPITALITY: 1 Pet. 4:9,10 – The special and unique ability to warmly welcome people and strangers into one's home or church even when that person is difficult to love.
16 Gifts,20 Gifts, 23 Gifts KNOWLEDGE: 1 Cor. 12:8 – The ability to acquire knowledge about Scripture the Kingdom of God and to analyze that information for the spiritual growth of God’s people.
16 Gifts,20 Gifts, 23 Gifts LEADERSHIP: Rom. 12:8 – The ability to stand before God’s people, as His representative, in such a way that motivates others to get involved in the accomplishment of His Kingdom’s goals.
16 Gifts,20 Gifts, 23 Gifts WISDOM: 1 Cor. 12:8 – The ability to apply knowledge to life situations in such a way as to make spiritual truths relevant and practical in making proper decisions in daily life situations.
20 Gifts MISSIONARY: Eph. 3:6-8 – To be able to provide ministry, and share the gospel with people of different languages, practices or culture in order to bring about a spiritual change in individuals.
20 Gifts, 23 Gifts >CRAFTSMANSHIP:Exodus 28:3-6  The gift of craftsmanship is the specific ability that God gives to certain members of the body of Christ to use their hands and minds to creatively design and construct items to be used for ministry.
20 Gifts, 23 Gifts class="font10">: Mark 4:33 The gift of creative communication is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the body of Christ to communicate God’s truth through a variety of art forms, media or other creative methods.
20 Gifts, 23 Gifts INTERCESSION: Col. 1:9, 10 - The special gift whereby the Spirit enables certain Christians to pray for extended periods of time with great positive effect for the building of the Kingdom.
23 Gifts HEALING: 1 Cor. 12:9, 28, 30 – The ability to be used as a means through which God makes people whole either physically, emotionally, mentally, or spiritually.
23 Gifts INTERPRETATION: 1 COR. 12:10; 14:27, 28 – The ability to translate the message of someone who has spoken in tongues. A broader definition would be the ability to interpret God’s message to individuals or congregations, in a profound way, that brings enlightenment or deep spiritual understanding.
23 Gifts MIRACLES: 1 Cor. 12:10,28 - To be enabled by God to perform mighty deeds, which is empowered by the Holy Spirit, or of supernatural origin and display the power of God over nature and man
23 Gifts TOUNGES: 1 Cor. 12:10;14:27-28– The God given ability to speak in a language not previously learned so unbelievers can hear God's message in their own language or the body be edified. Some may include the ability to speak in an unknown tongue known only to God and interpreted by others gifted with this ability.
